Café Pride is Ethos’ latest supper club for LGBT elders of color, their friends and allies.

Many LGBT elders of color enter retirement age without the supports necessary for healthy aging. And a lifetime of discrimination has adversely affected LGBT elders of color, based on multiple aspects of their identities, including racial inequality, anti-LGBT discrimination, challenges based on immigration status, and more.

According to a study by the Seattle Institute for Multigenerational Health, more than half of LGBT older adults have been told by a doctor that they have depression; 39 percent have seriously thought of suicide; and 53 percent feel isolated from others.

In addition to providing a hot, nutritious meal and information about available programs and resources, Cafe Pride is safe and welcoming environment for LGBT elders of color to connect with each other and opportunity to celebrate the diversity in New England’s LGBT community.
