Home > Coronavirus (COVID-19) > Coronavirus COVID-19 Update: Ethos Classified “Essential Services” and Operational

Ethos, because of the work we do to support older adults and the disabled, is classified as an “Essential Service” and will remain fully operational through the duration of this crisis unless otherwise directed.

As restaurants close, grocery store aisles emptied,  pantries get depleted, and older adults encouraged to limit travel and social contacts, food insecurity will be a real concern for many Bostonians. As such, Ethos offers a number of programs and services to assist older adults through this crisis.

Meals on Wheels

Every weekday, Ethos brings hot, nutritious meals to thousands of home bound seniors. Along with a well-balanced meal, our Meals on Wheels drivers serve up a cheerful, consistent presence while also keeping a watchful eye over each recipient’s health and safety. Based on their individual needs, elders may also receive frozen weekend meals, cold meals, and nutritional supplements. Click here or or call 617-477-6606 to learn more about Meals on Wheels or to enroll.

Community Cafes

As a precaution to help prevent the spread of coronavirus (covid-19) among older adults, many of the venues that host our cafes have decided to close their facilities.

As a result, Ethos will not be able to serve meals at those locations for the foreseeable future however, older adults may still visit many Community Cafe sites and pick up a “Grab & Go” meal.

Below is a list of our Community Cafe sites and and their current status. While most community cafes are open from 10:00 am-1:00 pm, meals are generally available for pick up from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

In the meantime, we wanted to let you know that some older adults may qualify to receive home delivered meals. If you, or someone you know, is 60 or older, and is interested in receiving meals on wheels, please call 617-477-6606 or visit www.ethocare.org.
