The older adult population in Boston is growing and experiencing higher rates of depression and mental health challenges than their counterparts across the Commonwealth.
The Behavioral Health Outreach for Aging Populations Program(BHOAP) at Ethos formerly known as EMHOT, is a person-centric flexible Behavioral Health Program for persons age 60+ focused on improving the mental well-being of each individual. Social Workers and Master level Social Work interns assist older adults with immediate needs as well as long-term supports.
BHOAP Team members meet with older adults to establish trusting relationships and provide services including:
- Assessment of an individual’s needs
- In-home visits, counseling, and therapy
- Accessing community-based therapy services
- Connection to resources such as Home Care, Medicare counseling, volunteer and employment opportunities, SNAP benefits, transportation resources, Healthy Aging classes, and much more!
- Coordination and collaboration with family/caregivers and medical providers
- Some Spanish language team members are available
