Dr. Tom Perls is a Professor of Medicine and Geriatrics at the Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine at Boston University. He cares for older patients at Boston Medical Center. In 1990, he came to Harvard Medical School to do his fellowship in Geriatrics Medicine and then was faculty there for 8 years. He then moved to Boston University where he has been for almost 25 years. In 1995, “Dr. Tom” began and continues to direct the longest running and largest study of people who live to 100 and older, called centenarians, in the world. The name of the study is, “the New England Centenarian Study”. This study of about 3000 participants includes over 600 people ages 105-109 years and 200 over the age of 110!. The oldest in the study lived to 119. He leads or helps lead four NIH funded studies researching exceptional longevity.

Geshe Tenley is the Resident Teacher at Kurukulla Center for Tibetan Buddhist Studies. He was ordained by the late Gyume Khensur Geshe Urgyen Tseten Rinpoche in 1990 and began the program of studies to become a geshe at Sera Jey Monastic University. During the course of his studies, he has received many teachings from His Holiness the Dalai Lama as well as many other highly qualified masters. In 1998, he received his full ordination (gelong) vows from His Holiness and received his geshe degree in 2008. He began teaching at Kurukulla Center in 2009 and upon the advice of Lama Zopa Rinpoche was appointed Resident Teacher by the Kurukulla Center Board of Directors in 2010. Geshe Tenley is well-known for his approachability and kindheartedness. His extensive activities in the US and around the world bring great joy and benefit to everyone he meets.
