Ethos’ ongoing partnership with Boston Cares has brought a diverse group of volunteers from all over Boston and the surrounding area, who may not have previously considered volunteering for seniors.

For over 25 years, Boston Cares has been partnering with local organizations to match volunteers with opportunities to strengthen their communities and improve the lives of people in need. In the past two years, volunteers from Boston Cares have spent over 80 hours making cards to bring smiles to isolated seniors in our Home Delivered Meals Program. This past December, volunteers gave over 70 hours helping out at our annual holiday party for seniors.

Ethos has also been a host site for two AmeriCorps*VISTA members through Boston Cares. Through their service we are building and strengthening our relationships with community groups that connect volunteers to Ethos. In 2016, VISTAs serving at Ethos recruited over 1600 volunteers to support our mission.

“We’re delighted to be highlighted and so happy to work with Ethos and support your mission with VISTAs and volunteers.” Says Emily Rackleff, Senior Program Manager at Boston Cares.

Through this partnership, we have been able to support our mission to reduce isolation in seniors and provide free supports to offset the high costs of services.
