Twice a month, volunteers from the Charles River Center visits the Ethos’ office to make greeting cards for Southwest Boston seniors.
For over 60 years, the Charles River Center in Needham has been empowering and supporting people with developmental disabilities by engaging them in meaningful activities that foster independence and community inclusion.
Every other week, a group of 6-8 volunteers come into our office to make greeting cards that are delivered with our Home Delivered Meals. Over the past two years, volunteers have donated over 230 hours to this effort, and have brightened the day of countless seniors in the process.
“Ethos has been such a great opportunity for our individuals. Every other week a group of our individuals look forward to going to Ethos to make cards and are so excited about it. One of the reasons they enjoy it so much is that they know people are going to be receiving these cards and will be so appreciative of the work they put into them. All of the cards end up being a little different because each of the individuals add their own personal touch. We volunteer at a variety of places but when you talk to the individuals, Ethos is always right at the top of their list of favorite activities to do.” – Jay Stockwell, Assistant Program Director at Charles River Center
