SOUTHWEST BOSTON,MA (October 25, 2010) – Janice Williams was named the Healthy Aging Program Manager that will be responsible for the continued development and management of Ethos’ Naturally Occurring Retirement Community (NORC) Pilot Initiative, AgeWell West Roxbury this past September. This new position was made possible by recent awards of $55,000 by the Boston Foundation and $65,000 by the Tufts Health Plan Foundation that will allow Ethos to expand its offerings of healthy aging programs, services and activities.
Williams has been with Ethos as an administrator for the Nutrition Department since 2008, where she played a key role in the daily management of the Meals on Wheels program. She brings nearly thirty years of marketing and communications experience from various organizations around Boston. She is also the co-founder and administrator for the Roslindale Arts Alliance, which is a nonprofit arts organization that advocates for artists and arts in the community.
In her new role as the Healthy Aging Program Manager, Williams develop and organize healthy aging programs, services and activities to improve physical, mental, social, and financial fitness of mature adults. She will also serve as information and referral source for all things related to successfully growing older. In addition, Williams will work with local businesses, social service agencies, academic institutions, religious organizations and neighborhood associations as part of a committee of key community leaders and stakeholders to ensure that the entire community is involved in supporting every mature adult, who wants to age-in-place or, in other words, live in their own home as long as possible.
“We are very excited for Janice’s promotion to this new position,” said Ethos Executive Director Dale Mitchell. “We are expecting great things from Janice, who brings a wealth of knowledge from her work at Ethos, and her previous work experience.”
