West Roxbury seniors were visited by Chef Vanessa LaBranche, from Project Bread, and treated to a healthy food demonstration at the Cheriton Heights Apartments on Wednesday morning, March 25th. On the menu was Spinach Salad with apples and raisins, dressed with Homemade Cider Vinaigrette, Vegetarian Black Bean Cornmeal Patties, and Pasta in a Skillet. Participants received the recipes, assisted with the preparation, and sampled the delicious results.
Project Bread hosts cooking demonstrations for all ages, showing the way to a healthier diet. Today’s presentation focused on cooking small quantities, one-pan dishes, and meals you can freeze for later. Seniors learned that you can maintain a healthy, balanced diet, even if you are only cooking for one.
