If Dale Mitchell had his way, all Boston neighborhoods would be able to duplicate the success of Ethos, an organization providing senior services in West Roxbury, Roslindale, and other southwest Boston neighborhoods.
“We need to develop a comprehensive citywide strategy … particularly around addressing the issue of isolation of elderly people all across the city,” said Mitchell, the executive director of Ethos.
The organization, which is based in Jamaica Plain, runs AgeWell West Roxbury, which provides an array of programs to help keep West Roxbury seniors in their homes and independent. West Roxbury has the highest percentage of seniors in Boston, Mitchell said. The program has been successful, but challenges remain.
