West Roxbury Transcript: Road of Independence
January 27, 2014
A former manager of medical education at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Cullinane is now enjoying a retirement defined by nights out with friends and active participation in the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
But for someone like Cullinane, who uses a wheelchair due to a chronic, progressive form of MS, such an active lifestyle would be difficult without access to a dependable, handicapped-friendly form of transportation.
That’s why for over two decades she has turned to The Ride, a paratransit service run by the MBTA.
“It’s how I function,” said Cullinane, a Parkway native who now lives at West Roxbury’s Deutsches Altenheim.
“It’show I get around.”
